Awkwafina

Awkwafina was initially an American rapper and singer, performing sly tunes that dealt with topics like racial or sexual identity with a comedic twist. Before expanding into Hollywood, she was able to perform a variety of tracks. The actress was born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrant parents from Forest Hills Queens her first experience with music came in the form of trumpet. Alongside classical music and jazz, the young Nora began studying hip-hop in her teens. When she was in college, she focused on her studies. She studied women's studies and journalism. In a short period during her time in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were offered as well. Not until after graduation did she start focusing on music. In 2012 her track My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success across the Internet before settling on her debut LP Yellow Ranger in 2014. The album featured other popular hits, including the body positive Queef as well as the cheeky hometown tour NYC Bitche$. The final track was connected directly to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, which was published in 2015. Alongside having a book published as well, she also worked as a singer. In addition to early shows like Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in films such as Neighbors as well as Storks. She had a breakthrough role in the year 2018, with several notable films like Dude Ocean's Eight as well as Crazy Rich Asians. It was in June that she released In Fina We Trust.
